Reviews for The Farewell

The Farewell is touching. I truly enjoyed the way this film doesn’t actually dwell on death itself, but instead the relationship of family, and the obligations they have to each other during life, and the transition out of life. Just as anyone who has dealt with lose, I know the pain and suffering it causes to those who aren’t dying. Even though I myself am American and can’t imagine a medical situation where doctors openly lie to a patient, let alone the family lying to the afflicted, I was so captivated by how this story brings up such a deep human debate of quality of life vs quantity of life, a subject that extends far paste one culture, but to all living beings. This film is exceptional, it felt full, bold, crucial and complete as an art piece. It left me ignited with personal thoughts, ideas and feelings.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
