Favorite Female-Directed Film: Birds of Prey directed by Cathy Yan
When I learned just how sexist the film industry really is, I felt so fired up to be part of the positive change. Teaching people about why women aren’t given the opportunity to thrive in this field, and supporting the incredible women filmmakers and crew, has become a huge part of my life. As a director myself, it feels like quite a personal experience. When I’m not fighting for injustice, writing, or filming, I train as a full time circus performer/instructor.
My favorite movie quote recently changed, after seeing Birds of Prey (directed by Cathy Yan), because… “psychologically speaking, vengeance rarely brings the catharsis we hope for” said by the beloved Harley Quinn, is just too good.
My favorite movie snack is definitely vegan gummy bears, and plenty of water (in a reusable water bottle of course)!

Favorite female-directed film: Lady Bird Directed by Greta Gerwig
My favorite film quote is “But to make yourself feel nothing so as not to feel anything – what a waste!” from Call Me By Your Name. Alongside film, I’m also interested in art and music. Learning about gender inequality within filmmaking has led me to seek out more films directed by women and recognize how far we still have to go to represent all genders, races, and sexualities in film.

I have always been a feminist, and when I heard about gender inequality in the film world, I was shocked. I suddenly looked at some of my favorite movies in a different way, and I now want to use my voice to advocate for women’s participation through all aspects of Hollywood. Women have voices that need to be shared! Alongside my love for film and everything Hollywood related, I have a passion for writing and traveling. Meeting new people is what drives me. My favorite film quote is by none other than my favorite female movie characters- Elle Woods. “What? Like, it’s hard?”

My favorite film quote is from the movie “Lovesong” and it says “You know when people die, they don’t really die. They just go into your hearts.” I recently got into film because of the strong leads program and it made me want to learn more about the gender inequality in the film industry as I didn’t really know it existed. When learning more about the inequalities, it made me think differently about the movies that I watch and how the industry treats female directors. Besides film, I am into a lot of true crime/mystery and a lot of asian culture such as anime. My favorite film snack is skittles!
